The Centre hosted a Wreath Making session in partnership with Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust.
32 people attended the session earlier this month at The Centre to learn how to make Christmas Wreaths.
The group began by learning how to twist and weave the willow into a hoop before weaving greenery such as ivy and all sorts of evergreen which are abundant at this time of year before adding natural embellishments and jewels like dried poppy seed heads, teasels and berries to add texture.
32 people went home “buzzing” with feelings of accomplishment and confidence and the joy of having creating their own wreath.
Jenny King, Jenny King Wild At Heart Project Officer said “We had a fantastic day at The Centre in Brinsworth making natural wreaths from seasonal greenery and willow.”
“No plastic was needed and we made the most of the beautiful natural greenery bring life to these dark winter days. What could be nicer than coming home to see your very own handmade wreath on your door?”
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature and make the most of the natural world and reduce feelings of isolation by joining in with a group activity. Meeting other people and breaking the ice and starting a friendship from a shared interest and an inclusive and supportive environment.”
About Wild at Heart
Wild at Heart is a friendly supportive nature based group for adults, run by Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust.
